Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has strongly criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for high petrol and diesel prices in India. Singh said that even though India buys cheap crude oil from Russia, fuel prices in the country remain very high, between Rs 95 and Rs 104 per liter. He accused Modi of putting the interests of his friends, like Mukesh Ambani, above the needs of the people. Singh said Ambani’s company bought a large amount of cheap Russian oil and made huge profits by selling it to other countries. He asked the Prime Minister to explain how much money the country has saved from buying cheap oil and how ordinary Indians have benefited.

Pressure from the US Led to Modi’s Ceasefire Decision, Claims Sanjay Singh

Speaking at a press conference at the AAP headquarters on Monday, Sanjay Singh stated that US President Trump has imposed a 50% tariff on India. He demanded that PM Modi take firm steps keeping India’s trade interests in mind and send a clear message to the US. Singh criticized Modi for trying to convince people that he is acting in the country’s interest and not succumbing to US pressure. Singh claimed that Modi’s decisions favor his close friends rather than the country. After the Russia-Ukraine war, most countries stopped buying oil and other goods from Russia, but India continued because of cheaper rates. Ambani’s Reliance group agreed in January 2025 to buy 500,000 barrels of crude oil daily from Russia for processing at the Jamnagar refinery. Singh argued that if crude oil is cheap, Indian consumers should get cheap petrol and diesel, which is not happening.

Ambani Profited Heavily While Indians Got No Relief

Sanjay Singh questioned whether the purchase of cheap crude oil from Russia benefited farmers and common people. He said PM Modi should reveal detailed figures on how much cheaper oil was imported and what portion of savings was passed on to the Indian public. Singh said Modi has no answers to these questions, but Ambani has gained hugely. Modi is willing to sacrifice the country for his friends Ambani and Adani. Singh noted that a case against Adani is ongoing in the US, with possible arrest looming, yet Modi chose to push for a ceasefire due to pressure from the US. Singh warned about the fate of millions of Indians in such deals.

India Bought 231 Million Barrels of Russian Oil; Ambani’s Reliance Bought 77 Million Barrels

Sanjay Singh shared data from the past six months revealing India imported 231 million barrels of cheap crude oil from Russia. Reliance alone bought 77 million barrels. Reliance processed this oil at its Jamnagar refinery and exported the finished petroleum products abroad at higher prices, making a profit of ₹50,000 crore in six months. Singh stated this profit should have benefited the Indian people. He accused PM Modi of lying to the nation and putting the interests of his friends above those of farmers and ordinary citizens. Singh called for a serious investigation into this alleged massive corruption. He also claimed that the ceasefire decision was influenced by pressure from the US over the Adani case, highlighting Modi’s compromised position. Singh demanded answers from the Prime Minister.
